Spotlight Sports Group Enters Games Vertical with Engage Games Partnership
  • Spotlight Sports Group has formed a strategic partnership with Engage Games, marking its first entry into the games vertical.
  • The collaboration will offer sportsbook operators access to bespoke games featuring fantasy, predictor, survivor and bet builder mechanics.
  • New racing-themed titles developed under the partnership will be powered by Spotlight Sports Group’s proprietary Smart View Engine.

Spotlight Sports Group has made its inaugural move into the games vertical, establishing a new strategic partnership with the specialist supplier Engage Games. The collaboration, which was formally announced on Thursday, represents a significant expansion of the media and technology group's B2B product suite and a calculated diversification from its core content and data services. The group is widely known in the industry as the parent company of the long-standing media outlet, the Racing Post.

Under the terms of the new agreement, Spotlight Sports Group will provide its extensive global network of sportsbook operator partners with access to a portfolio of bespoke games developed by Engage Games. This arrangement will enable operators to integrate a range of both free-to-play and pay-to-play titles directly into their platforms, creating new avenues for customer acquisition and long-term retention. The partnership is designed to equip operators with proven gaming products that can complement their core sportsbook offerings and drive user activity.

New Gaming Mechanics and Racing Integration

The suite of games to be made available through the partnership incorporates several popular mechanics aimed at a broad player base. Operators will be able to offer their customers fantasy sports contests, simple predictor games, and last-man-standing style survivor competitions. Furthermore, the products include integrated bet builder functionalities, which are designed to allow for a seamless transition between casual gaming and real-money wagering. This feature is a key component for converting game players into active sportsbook customers.

A notable and unique feature of the collaboration will be the application of Spotlight Sports Group’s proprietary technology to a new generation of racing-themed titles. These specific games are set to be powered by the group's Smart View Engine, which leverages extensive racing data and analytics to create an informed user experience. This integration allows the company to utilise its deep-rooted expertise in horse racing—a sector where its flagship Racing Post brand is about to enter its 40th year—to create unique and data-rich gaming experiences for racing enthusiasts.

Broader Strategic and Technological Investment

This venture into the gaming space is a direct continuation of Spotlight Sports Group's recently announced strategic direction. Back in January, the company unveiled its comprehensive 2026 Racing Innovation strategy, which explicitly outlined an ambition to develop and launch new digital products for the betting and gaming industry. This forward-looking strategy has already resulted in the introduction of the Smart View Tipping Feed and a dedicated Racing Bet Builder product for operators, with the Engage Games partnership marking the next logical phase of this B2B product expansion.

The execution of the partnership will be managed by key personnel from both organisations, including Spotlight Sports Group's B2B Growth Director, Rob Brown, and Engage Games founder, Ryan Lawrence. The move also follows significant investment in the group's technological leadership. In June, Spotlight Sports Group appointed Adam Gill as its new Chief Technology Officer. Gill, who joined the company from the market research firm Savanta, is now tasked with leading all technology and engineering initiatives across the entire group. His role will be central to providing the technical oversight necessary for successfully integrating new product verticals and partnerships such as this one.
